Episode 211: The Pro-Normal Party Coalition (feat. Adam Frisch)

The man who came withing 546 votes of deposing our 8th Favorite Member of Congress from Colorado from her soon-to-be Former Seat Joins us from the Campaign Trail

This was a wild episode, most likely in part because we’re 20-ish days away from the most consequential election of our lives (or maybe the last, who’s to say?!) and campaigns are heating up! We started this week with an interview you’re not going to want to miss, Adam Frisch, the guy who came within 546 votes of sending Lauren Boebert on a permanent speaking tour joined us to talk campaign strategy, which is the most beautiful district in Colorado, and why he can (and will) still win despite running against Jeff “Bread Sandwich” Hurd and not our 8th Favorite Member of Congress from Colorado. Adam is smart, funny, ambitious, and really seems to give a damn about the district and the people who live there. To learn more about him and his campaign, go to www.adamforcolorado.com or just look for @adamforcolorado on every social media platform out there.

After our interview with Frisch, who we are absolutely convinced can win this race despite the lean of the district, we visited the other-most-competitive district in the state, Colorado’s 8th district, where friend of the pod Congresswoman Dr. Yadira Caraveo is fending off a challenge from State Representative and guy-who-can’t-answer-the-easiest-question-on-the-planet-ever, Gabe-ish Evans. Our friends at the DCCC have the receipts:

Let’s help out old Gabe-ish here.

Q: When is it appropriate for you or a teacher to hit your kid?

A: Never!

This is utterly disqualifying, and should be played on repeat on every TV, computer, phone, laptop, and jumbotron from now until E-Day.

Then, we investigate the curious case of the Arizona GOP doing the job that the Colorado GOP should be doing. Hop on over to our sister site ColoradoPols.com for a breakdown of the weirdnesses here, but the short version goes a little something like this:

It’s entirely possible that the Colorado Republican Party has neither the means nor the ability to produce direct mail for Evans after spending most of its time (and money) litigating internal squabbles. The Colorado GOP is being all but looted by Chairman Dave Williams and didn’t appear to spend a dime helping other Republican candidates in August. To the extent that the Colorado GOP is doing any electioneering work, it is mostly centered around promoting unfounded nonsense about schools conducting sex-change surgeries and/or a nefarious plot from administrators and teacher’s unions to turn children into drag queens.

Yikes.

And finally, the Big Orange Moron visited Aurora Colorado (sort of) in hopes of reigniting the lie that Venezuelan Gangs have taken over the city and turned into some kind of socialist hellscape, or something. But since Trump and his allies lie all the time about, well, literally everything, we don’t really take his word for it, or, anything else. What we did do, however, is get really, wildly freaked out by the stage setting they chose for the event:

Truly, madly, deeply, terrifying shit.

That’s it for this week’s episode! If you loved listening to it as much as we loved recording it, you can thank us by subscribing to the pod wherever you listen, following us over on Nice Twitter aka Threads, and forwarding this email or sharing this post with your friends, your enemies, and the Bread Sandwich in your life! THANK YOU so much for listening, and we’ll see you next time!
